CEBU, Philippines — Security Bank affiliate, SB Finance (SBF) has partnered with ‘Financial Beshie ng Bayan’ and financial advocate Salve Duplito, to launch a series of financial literacy initiatives.

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between the financial institution and Duplito’s Empower and Transform (EAT). This marks the start of a series of collaborative projects focused on enhancing the financial well-being of SB Finance’s customers, employees, and other stakeholders.

“At SB Finance, we believe financial literacy is not just about managing money, but it is also about empowering individuals to make informed decisions that can shape their futures,” said SB Finance President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abbie Dans-Casanova.

“Our partnership with Salve Duplito’s Empower and Transform is a strategic move to provide our employees and customers with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of financial management. By fostering a culture of financial responsibility, we aim to create a ripple effect that benefits, not just our immediate community, but society as a whole,” Dans-Casanova added.

Essential to this partnership, Dans-Casanova explained is the release of the ‘Utang Manual,’ a comprehensive guide specifically written by Salve Duplito for SB Finance for its employees and customers to support continuous learning and the application of financial principles.

The manual contains practical tips on how to take control of financial health and share financial management knowledge with others and the community.

Recognized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other professional organizations for her accomplishments, Duplito has been a prominent advocate for financial education in the Philippines. She is also a TV news anchor and radio host.

Financial ‘Beshie ng Bayan’ Duplito is set to meet SB Finance employees and customers for a series of financial literacy workshops starting September 2024.

“Financial education is a critical tool for empowerment and economic stability,” said Duplito, who is also the EAT founder and president.

“Through this partnership, we aim to equip SB Finance employees and customers with practical financial skills that can lead to better financial health and security. Our goal is to demystify financial concepts and make them accessible, allowing individuals to take control of their financial destinies and contribute to a financially literate society,” noted Duplito.

The launch of the ‘Utang Manual’ will be followed by a series of financial literacy workshops led by Duplito and her team.

The workshops aim to equip hundreds of SBF employees and SBF customers with essential financial management skills, cultivating a culture of financial responsibility and empowerment.

SB Finance, Inc. is a Security Bank and Krungsri partnership registered with and regulated by SEC, and supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). Classified as a non-bank financial institution (NBFI), it aims to enrich lives as it envisions to be the Philippines’ preferred financial service provider.

On the other hand, EAT is dedicated to promoting financial literacy in the Philippines. Through workshops, educational content, and advocacy, EAT aims to empower Filipinos with the knowledge and tools to achieve financial independence and security.
