CEBU, Philippines — The rise of smart consumers who prefer to buy sustainable and green products has prompted interior construction materials supplier Magna CMGN Solutions to increase its acquisition of environmentally friendly materials.

Magna CMGN Solutions owner and chief operations officer Marylou Ngo Ang said that the demand for sustainable products has been growing, especially among the younger batch of consumers, like the millennials.

Whether for furnishings in offices, houses, new restaurants, hotels, and resorts, the trend now is using sustainable products, Ang noted.

“More pronounced now are buyers who are already very smart and knowledgeable (of sustainable materials) because they have all the access in social media,” said Ang.

Magna CMGN Solutions was one of the exhibitors during the recently concluded PhilConstruct Visayas held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.

“The demand for sustainable products has been growing, especially among the millennials now, because they grew up understanding the differences already, of climate change and preserving the environment. Also, they grew up experiencing super typhoons and Covid-19 pandemic,” Ang noted.

Since its establishment in 2003, Ng said the company, which specializes in providing premium quality, pre-finished products for building interiors, has been an ally to Cebu’s real estate industry.

The company made a significant stride during the pandemic when home renovations were popular. During these times up until now, Ang saw a notable increase in the demand for sustainable materials.

“We are supporting the growth of real estate from floor to ceiling including furniture and finishings. Everybody wants to upkeep their houses, so they either remodel or renovate them,” she said, adding that consumers in the residential sector are now re-modelling their homes, and opting to utilize smart and green materials.

Because of Magna CMGN Solutions’ active presence in social media, the company has not only gained a growing customer base in Cebu, but it is now attracting buyers from all over the Philippines, including abroad.

“With the advent of technology, we cater to all clients local and overseas. We also sell online with high inquiries from the US,” Ang said adding that Magna maintains an extensive network of architects and designers to effectively meet the rising market demand from all over the country, and overseas.

She added that the sustained growth in the construction industry allowed its Cebu-based Mana CMGC to attract a diverse range of clients, from conventional to environmentally-conscious consumers.

Magna CMGN Solutions is one of the leading suppliers of innovative interior construction materials in the Philippines. The company specializes in providing pre-finished products that offer solutions for building interiors, such as ceilings, walls, floors, and cabinetry, among others.

According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight, 81 percent of respondents in the Philippines stated that they were willing to pay for more sustainable products. The same survey also revealed that most respondents had adopted sustainable practices when purchasing items in the last 12 months. — (FREEMAN)
