CEBU, Philippines — Committed to building a better future for a better Philippines, Aboitiz Construction signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)  to assist in the refurbishment of TESDA Technology Institutions and the establishment of Innovation Centers for construction and maintenance-related programs last November 10.

The partnership also aims to enhance the quality of technical education and skills development in the field of construction, collaborate to create centers of excellence, develop training regulations, and competency standards, and more importantly, to ensure that the workforce is adequately prepared for the demands of the industry.

Present during the signing activity were TESDA Secretary Suharto Teng Mangudadatu, Aboitiz Construction’s Senior Assistant Vice President for People and Corporate Shared Services Raizza Manuel, and Human Resources Manager Vhie Marie Regondola.

“As we forge this partnership, let us not lose sight of the bigger picture. We are not just signing an agreement; we are setting in motion a process that will create a skilled, empowered, and job-ready workforce. This collaboration also aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting public-private partnerships as a means to foster development and progress,” said Manuel.

Since last year, Aboitiz Construction has partnered with TESDA-accredited training centers in Batangas, Cebu, and Bukidnon to upskill more than a hundred individuals on construction skills like shielded metal arc welding scaffolding. Most of the graduates were hired and deployed in the firm’s project sites while others are reserved for future projects.

The Aboitiz Group’s Great Transformation is also dedicated to empowering its workforce for the progress of both business and communities. This year, Aboitiz Construction hired almost 2,800 skilled workers, strategically deployed across diverse sites throughout the nation.

To secure sustainable growth and expansion, Aboitiz Construction has strategically directed its efforts towards key projects in the industrial, infrastructure, and maintenance services sectors. These projects play a pivotal role in generating employment opportunities for many Filipinos.

Aboitiz Construction, having recently achieved the prestigious Quadruple A accreditation from the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board, stands alongside its meaningful partnership with TESDA. This dual accomplishment positions the firm with heightened readiness to take on even bigger opportunities in the industry and continuously fulfill its mission of building a better future for a better Philippines.
