CEBU, Philippines — Hospitality firm Quest Hotel and Conference Cebu has joined forces with Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) operator, to give convenience to tourists and domestic guests alike for a smooth travel from Mactan Island to Cebu City.

Quest Hotel general manager Mia Singson-Leon and CCLEX officials led by president Allan Alfon signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to start off giving perks to Quest Hotel guests passing through the third bridge.

The agreement, set to expire on December 30, 2023, will provide CCLEX users with exclusive benefits, including a 10 percent discount on room rates and a 15 percent discount on food and beverage offerings.

By presenting their CCLEX toll receipts or proof of passage, guests can avail of these exceptional perks.

“We want to make sure that Cebuanos and its visitors have a stress-free experience going to the motorways through CCLEX especially from Mactan to Cebu,” said Singson-Leon.

According to Alfon, this is just an initial partnership with Quest Hotel and its sister hotels under the Filinvest Hospitality Group which also includes Crimson Resort & Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

Under the agreement, all motorists – tourists, or Cebuano residents who can show CCLEX receipts can avail of room, food, and beverage discounts at Quest Hotel.

At present, CCLEX registered an average of 17,000 motorists using the bridge, about  25 percent of whom are paying tolls through RFID.

A number of CCLEX users however is increasing at least four to five percent per month, Alfon said.

With the promotion of cashless payment or the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Alfon said that daily usage will increase to more than 20,000 a day.

“We projected an average daily traffic of 60,000,” said Alfon adding that CCLEX has a maximum capacity of 90,000 to 100,000 a day.

Right now, CCLEX recorded a total of 90,000 registered RFID accounts.

Convincing motorists to subscribe to the cashless payment system of the CCLEX tollway not only provide convenience to motorists but also promotes a fast and smooth flow of traffic in the 8.9-kilometer third bridge that connects Cebu City and Mactan Island, via the municipality of Cordova. — (FREEMAN)
