Posh resort modifies ways to suitevery client’s needs

CEBU, Philippines — Plantation Bay announced an initial series of enhancements designed to improve the handling, attention and leisure experience for guests with special needs.

General Manager Cherry Allego announced yesterday that many of the resort’s clients, including the elderly and those with certain kinds of disability, prefer low noise levels, however, to allow more flexibility, the resort will be reconfiguring certain areas.

The resort’s initiatives include a modification of its booking and reservations procedures, which now include a more focused interface allowing guests to provide advance notice should any members of their group require special needs. This will allow the resort to make preparations prior to the guests’ arrival and ensure a pleasant experience during their stay.

The resort, which recently became controversial due to alleged mishandling of a guest with special needs, is remodeling one of its freshwater swimming pools, which will be exempt from the resort’s general ‘low noise level policy’ during scheduled times. This pool is in an enclosed, easy-to-monitor area to compensate for the increased safety risks posed by high noise levels. The area will also have a snack and beverage service.

Additionally, a 1,000 sqm. Children’s Play Area will also be set aside for more energetic children. The play area includes wall-climbing, a children’s boot camp, play golf, and an electric go-kart circuit.

The over 10-hectare resort is also currently planning further learning sessions for both management and staff, including inclusivity training for handling people with disabilities.

Allego, who rose from the ranks and has been with the resort for over 15 years, expressed confidence that the resort will find other means of expanding its appeal to all kinds of clients, including those with various disabilities.
