Cebu Pacific allows free rebooking of flights
CEBU, Philippines — Gokongwei-led Cebu Pacific Air announced its full support of the government’s push for domestic travel allowing free rebooking charges.
This will encourage Filipinos to redirect their vacation plans to domestic destinations, as traveling abroad may not be advised due to flight cancellations and ongoing threat of COVID-19.
The airline’s hub development specialist, Aaron Parcon, said at a press conference that “it’s safe to travel” amid COVID-19 scare, as safety precautions are in place going into and onboard the aircraft.
Passengers whose travel plans fall between March 10 and 31, 2020 but decided to postpone their plans can rebook their flights for free.
The local carrier is offering free rebooking for all passengers to give them the flexibility to adjust their flights. The free rebooking option can be used once and that minimal fare difference may apply.
“We are now recalibrating our policies to adapt to the changing times,” said Parcon.
The free rebooking option is applicable to both local and international destinations.
Meanwhile, passengers booking new flights between March 10 and 31, 2020 (regardless of travel date and route) can also avail themselves of the CEB Flexi for free.
CEB Flexi enables travelers to rebook their flights up to two times, and up to two hours before departure. Fare difference may apply.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently announced its move to ask airline companies, including hotels and travel agencies to adjust their rates in order to make domestic travel much more affordable for Filipinos, as a way of stirring the weak tourism season due to virus outbreak.
Parcon said Cebu Pacific had been spousing lower rates via its Piso Fare campaigns, and the introduction of CEB Flexi. JMD
