ECCP-Cebu slates economic briefing

CEBU, Philippines — The European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP-Cebu) is set to hold a briefing tackling on the current issues affecting the economy.

ECCP will put its focus on the effects of the novel coronavirus to Cebu’s tourism sector and will be inviting Department of Tourism (DOT-7) regional director Shalimar Tamano on a round table discussion with the ECCP Cebu Tourism Committee Meeting.

Slated on February 20, 2020 at 10 in the morning at the Seda Ayala Center Cebu, the roundtable discussion also invited MARINA (Maritime Industry Authority) regional director Engr. Marc Anthony Pascha to give briefing on marine tourism regulations.

Members of the ECCP would also expect to be further enlightened and be updated of the novel coronavirus, its updates and effects to the tourism industry and other sectors in the economy.

ECCP would also want to hear the government’s actions and immediate response, or actions taken to cushion the outbreak’s impact to Cebu, as well as the region’s economy.

Other issues to be tackled during the roundtable discussion include; easement of Zone Rule; Marine  Tourism  Regulations;  Tourism vis-a-vis promoting sustainability and maintaining cultural heritage and other sector issues, such clearing of sidewalks, BPO sector as part of tourism industry.

ECCP has also invited representatives from the DPWH 7, Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, and Cebu City Traffic Office Management to join round-table table discussion for further inputs and sector updates.
