JPark Mactan expands to cater to new markets

CEBU, Philippines — Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark expands another seven-hectare resort development adjacent to the existing property, making it the largest luxury resort on Mactan Island.

The luxury resort is poised to expand another accommodation choice within the property, which aims at attracting the fast growing millennial travelers, said Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark chairman Justin Uy.

The extension will boost JPark Mactan’s edge as family destination for a growing number of foreign guests led by Koreans and Japanese, and the active domestic markets.

The only resort in Mactan Island, which has the largest waterpark, Jpark is also boosting its facility offerings to meet the demand of the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibits) events, which now gaining traction in the resort’s revenue stream.

Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark general manager Jonathan Charles Nowell said the property has added a number of facilities and amenities, including a multi-million-peso Pororo Park.

At present, Jpark Mactan has a total six restaurants, newly renovated ballroom, which can accommodate over a thousand sitting guests, among other newly refurbished facilities to induce more excitements for the market.

While the 10-year-old luxury resort had been successful in capturing the family market, Nowell said Jpark Mactan is also intensifying its grip in MICE events, as companies and organizations are starting to hold their events in beach locations too.

“MICE will play an important role especially with our new facilities,” said Nowell adding that potential to attract big events is not only rising in the Philippines, but the resort is also starting to become a preferred destination for organizations overseas particularly in the ASEAN region.

Corporate events nowadays, like conferences, are mostly being held in a destination that offers attractive rest and recreation facilities, resorts like Jpark benefit from this trend.
