CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based property developer AppleOne Properties Inc., announced its entry to Bohol, with the opening of a four-hectare resort in Panglao Island.

AppleOne president Ray Go Manigsaca said his company is now in talks with an international hotel chain to manage the villa-resort plan for the development.

The Panglao Island property serves as the debut project of AppleOne’s plan to build hotels in 10 cities across the country within three years.

AppleOne joins other big developers in putting significant investments in Bohol, particularly on Panglao Island following the province’s opening of an international airport located on the island.

In fact, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) recently announced that it is fast tracking registration approvals for tourism industry ecozones, including that of tourism ecozone in Panglao Island, said PEZA director general Charito Plaza.

AppleOne currently operates hotel properties including Diamond Hotel and Apple Tree Hotel) and has existing partnerships with Sheraton and Marriott hotel brands.

Manigsaca hinted that for the company’s Bohol project, they may explore other branded resort chains as management partner.

Manigsaca expressed strong confidence of the tourism growth in the Philippines, especially in Visayas and Mindanao areas.

The company is putting bulk of its capital expenditure (capex) to development tourism facilities like hotels and resorts, including commercial buildings. (FREEMAN)
