BUSINESS AFTER BUSINESS - Girlie Garces - The Freeman

As of this writing, I am now at the airport awaiting my flight. My schedule is actually still in the afternoon but I decided to come early knowing that our traffic situation is tricky. It seems like there is congestion everywhere.

The airport is full of people. Watching the expression on the faces of the passengers gives one an idea of the condition of their travel. There are those who look bored, others anxious, while some have excitement painted in their faces.

In the restaurants people are engaged, either with their gadgets or with business. Not wasting time, a passenger I assume is selling his networking business to a fellow passenger while in the next table, a lady is busy discussing a ‘financial plan’ the new approach in ensuring one’s financial independence in the sunset years.

Behind me another foundation with an advocacy for feeding children also proceeds with convincing individuals they assess to have the resources and the heart to help, to support their campaign.

Everyone is busy. With games, conversations, trade, or boredom. Oh yes, one can be so full of boredom and so busy with it to an irritating level of disgust as no game, no talk or no thought can replace the boredom of waiting for a delayed flight.

Perhaps age has given me the wisdom to find something worthwhile to think about when I’m busy with nothing. I occupy myself with simply drinking-in the varied facets of humanity. The different ways we react to change and I play with the thought of how I would also react given a similar circumstance. Then I realize I cannot make a manual of life. For no matter how we try to box in situations, Murphy’s Law will always apply. How do we succeed then? Are the things that occupy us really the steps to satisfaction?

My mind drifted to stories in the Bible and how people for generations have always wondered and wandered. God has actually placed our way to a purposeful, productive and abundant life in this age-old book. And the process flow is simple if we think of it as an instruction manual. In business or after business what is required is prayer, obedience, surrender and faith. And through the throng of people now here in this airport, I wish there is someone now engaged in a conversation with God.

The management books of both John Maxwell, Laurie Beth Jones, Stephen Covey and many other renowned writers base their theories on their understanding of man and on  How God’s wisdom becomes the guiding principle of success. Perhaps in a dull day, we can pick up one OF these to read. Better still, why not try the source book? The Bible.
