CEBU, Philippines — The soon-to-open Mactan International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 activated its 1,300 cubic meters capacity water facility to assure travelers of uninterrupted water supply.

The Megawide-GISPL Construction Joint Venture has partnered with water technology solutions provider, Mactan Rock Industries Inc., (MRII) to install the water system facility, which undergoes multiple filtering processes to comply with international standards.

"People from different countries use our airport so we need to make sure our water suits their taste, aside from it being safe,” said Dr. Hari Kumar Parameshwar, joint project director at Megawide-GISPL Construction Joint Venture in a press conference.

Paramesher said the privately-run Mactan Cebu International Airport strictly adheres to international standards for all of its facilities including water.

The newly inaugurated system will supply T2’s water requirement estimated at 500 cubic meters a day.

According to MRII chairman Antonio Tompar the new plant will also serve as a back-up supply in case of water disruption with supply to last for three days. This ensures undisruptive water supply within the new terminal, in case of emergencies.

MRII already supplies water that is compliant to the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water. But, the company is working with the T2 contractors to produce water based on the international standards.
