Tourism players to unveil Cebu’s hidden attractions

CEBU, Philippines - Tourism stakeholders in Cebu will soon unveil the province's ‘hidden treasure’ destinations, in a bid to further excite the active foreign and domestic tourists.

Cebu will uncover more interesting eco-tourism attractions, like caves, falls, rivers, among others during one of the activities of the upcoming Cebu Business Month (CBM 2017) in June, dubbed as "Lubag Laag sa Sugbo."

A sport's tourism tweak to the "Suroy Suroy sa Sugbo," which was originally initiated by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and later adapted by the Cebu Provincial government, "Lubag Laag sa Sugbo" is another fresh concept supported by tourism prime movers in Cebu.

Patterned after the AXN Amazing Race program, Cebu is trying to strengthen its sports tourism niche, showcasing the unpublished or hidden attractions especially in the southern side of Cebu province, said CBM Tourism Committee chairman Edwin Ortiz.

According to Ortiz, the activity scheduled on June 10-12, will not only boost the tourism advantages of some areas in the southern countryside, but will also promote fitness among family and friends.

Cebu Association of Tour Operator Specialists (CATOS) past president Edilberto Mendoza Jr., who is also the co-chairman of the CBM 2017 Tourism Committee, said that more attractions will be added to the "bucket list" of tourists when exploring Cebu, as players discovered numerous interesting destinations that remained unnoticed.

Co-organized by Habagat Outdoor Equipment company, this sports tourism tweak is seen to start another sensation in Cebu's tourism edge.

Meanwhile, the CBM 2017 tourism committee is also preparing other important events geared to promote the business of tourism in Cebu, as well as converging players and policy implementors (Department of Tourism, local government units) to reconcile some issues and concerns that affect the growth of the sector.
