CEBU, Philippines – More economic cooperation among nations and business opportunities can be expected from the Year of the Wood Sheep.

Feng shui and astrology expert Hanz Cua points to the economic integration of Southeast Asian countries which, he says, will make economic relations among ASEAN member nations more prosperous.

“This 2015, may mga allies na magco-combine so mayroong tulong-tulong sa taong ito,” Cua told The FREEMAN in a phone interview. “Sa ASEAN integration, wala namang nakikitang problema; in fact, it’s beneficial for Philippines dahil may cooperation at may powerful countries to support and help us.”

Master Cua describes the Year of the Wooden Sheep, which will begin on Chinese New Year on February 19, as more prosperous, quiet and relaxed compared to previous years.

He says 2015 will see a balance of five elements -- earth, water, wood, fire and metal -- which are present in almost all Chinese astrological signs. This suggests good opportunities and luck for entrepreneurs and the economy in general, he adds.

Industries  seen to grow

Noting business prospects for 2015 will be promising, he shares this year is also a good time to invest in fire-related enterprises such as restaurant, technology, food, light, etc. and those linked to the element of wood.

Tourism, real estate and construction industries are also expected to boom this year. He says tourism-related businesses will thrive on the back of the country’s growing tourism sector and more real estate projects will rise this year.

“Ang hindi medyo pabor sa [Year of the Wood Sheep] ay yung industries na related sa agriculture so we will be getting more importation again,” he says.

Cua says: “2015 is also a good year to start a business for start-ups. The Philippine economy will be busier this year. Dahil paakyat yung ating economy, may job offers para sa mga walang trabaho.”

It is also likely to be a good year for the stock market and foreign exchange, he further said.

Despite these opportunities, he points out politics and safety are two challenges that may affect the business sector.

He particularly cited Central Visayas is bound to experience heated politics, explaining it is found at the center of the Philippine map where hostility and anger lie.

Wealth luck

He advises those who want to enhance their wealth luck to wear green which is the lucky color this year.

“Almost all animal signs are bound to be fortunate in terms of money. To enhance your wealth, wear green or repaint your house or office with green,” he says, adding the element of wood is also auspicious.

Feng Shui

Feng shui -- literally means wind and water -- is an ancient Chinese belief system of boosting good fortune through positioning of objects and foretelling luck through traditional texts and dates.

The practice is common throughout Asia and that many Asian businesses apply its principles in hope to create prosperity.

While this ancient philosophy can't make things totally happen, experts say this can help people solve problems and make situations easier.

But for people longing for prosperity in life, hard work is the key as it won't work if they only sit and wait for opportunities.
