Our night with the Scarlet Spider
It was a night of pure excitement. As I left for the house from work, I was imagining what it would be like to see a breathtaking collection of the latest Ferrari cars in actual. Autostrada Motore, the sole importer and dealer of Ferrari cars in the Philippines has brought the model range to Shangri-la Mactan for an exclusive cocktail event in its first ever roadshow in the Visayas.
As I was dressing-up for the event, my little boy, who probably overheard my conversation with his mom, asked if he could go. Being a Ferrari fan himself (he has his own collection of Ferraris, the Shell Lego kind that is), I just had to bring him along.
As we arrived in Shangri-la, we were welcomed with a display of the current Ferrari models which included the 458 Spider, a Maserati Grand Turismo, F12 Berlinetta, the California and the FF. Although my eyes were glued mostly to the F12 Berlinetta, my son, who had a 458 toy, could not help but pull my pants as he wanted to check out the real thing.
In the program, Autostrada Motore General Manager Marc Soong welcomed everyone to what would be a night of pure passion as we were shown video snippets of how the cars are made, the dedication behind each performance unit and the attention to detail that is behind every Ferrari on the road. Also in attendance were Autostrada Motore president and chair, Wellington Soong as well as Head of Sales ASEAN at Ferrari Far East, Simon Inglefield, who presented the Tailor Made program. This program allows owners to customize their Ferraris and make it personalized, from the leather up to the smallest detail such as the thread color.
The certified Ferrari service team was also on hand to address queries and concerns of existing Ferrari owners. The team also provided them with comprehensive information and latest system updates.
The three-day event served as the gateway of introducing the official dealership, Autostrada and also the official service centre for Ferrari vehicles, Formula Sports Inc. to the elite market of Cebu. Although I could never afford one, me and my son ended the night with a thought that maybe someday, I would be riding in his Scarlet Spider.
The Autostrada Motore showroom is located in Manila, at the heart of Bonifacio Global City. It features a certified Ferrari Service Center with full access to complete original Ferrari parts, Ferrari diagnostics equipment, and special maintenance.
