GBP plants in Toledo among top importers
CEBU, Philippines - Global Business Power Corporation’s subsidiaries, Toledo Power Company and Cebu Energy Development Corporation were recently recognized by the Bureau of Customs as top importers for the year 2013.
The BOC Port of Cebu on August 12 awarded Toledo Power as Top No. 4 importer paying over Php245M in duties and taxes for importations of coal and spare parts needed for the plant’s operations.
Meanwhile, Toledo Power’s sister company, Cebu Energy, landed on sixth place with a total contribution of close to Php197M.
GBP is now considered among the key companies heavily investing in the Visayas region with power plants in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan and Oriental Mindoro. With the imminent operation of GBP’s TPC expansion project in Toledo by end of this year, remittances to the BOC will further increase.
