Medical and dental missions scheduled in north Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - After serving over 1,500 patients in Consolacion, Cebu recently, SM Foundation Inc. will hold another medical and dental mission in other parts of northern Cebu which were badly hit by super typhoon Yolanda.
SM Foundation will conduct free medical and dental missions in Bogo City on May 21, San Remegio on May 22, and Daanbantayan on May 23. The activity is in cooperation with the government’s social welfare office and Philippine Red Cross – Cebu Chapter.
These missions will offer free services like medical check-up, tooth extraction, x-ray, and ECG. Medicine will also be given.
SMFI initiated "Gamot Para Sa Kapwa," a comprehensive medical and dental mission, in response to the need of the indigent families to be provided with complete healthcare.
The foundation has already organized over 800 medical missions assisting over 700,000 patients in indigent communities since 2001 until August 2013. It has four areas of advocacy: education through scholarship and donations of schoolhouses, mall-based outreach programs, health, and community projects. Its guiding principle through the years has been People Helping People as it undertakes projects with civic organizations, government agencies, and the media. (FREEMAN)
