Federal Tires saves lives in Tacloban

CEBU, Philippines - The world heeded the call of the Philippines and staged a massive international relief effort to support the needs of more than 4 million people who were left with almost nothing when typhoon Yolanda hit the country last November 8, 2013.

PPC Asia Corporation, one of the leaders in the automotive sector in the country, along with its international partner, Federal Tires, immediately rushed to Tacloban, Leyte to help in the distribution of food, water, medicines and emergency supplies. 

Relief goods were distributed by representatives of PPC Asia, through the help of Barangay Councilor Louie Datimat who coordinated the mission at Barangay 60-E, one of the waterfront neighborhoods, which was completely wiped out by typhoon Yolanda.

Mr. Cris Nicolas of Nicolas Tyre Supply, distributor of PPC Asia-imported tires in the Visayas Region, was also present to personally hand over goods and other necessities to the victims of the typhoon.

Federal Tires, one of the largest tire suppliers in Taiwan and business partner of PPC Asia, extended their assistance in the rehabilitation efforts in Tacloban by sending help. Dawu Chen, Federal Tires’ Worldwide Sales and Marketing Director, hopes that “our little contribution will help in the Philippines’ reconstruction,” and could encourage other enterprises to follow suit.

PPC Asia, in turn, handed a Plaque of Appreciation to Federal Tires, as a token of gratitude for their valuable help to the victims of typhoon Yolanda and their strong partnership with their Philippine counterpart.
