Globe gets most number of nominations in 17th Telecom Asia Awards
CEBU, Philippines - Globe Telecom further asserts its leadership in the telecommunications industry as it tops the 17th Telecom Asia Awards list of finalists worldwide with seven nominations in 12 categories.
Globe Telecom’s achievement also brought developing markets like the Philippines to the forefront with a total of 10 nominations, followed by Malaysia with seven, and Indonesia with four.
“To be shortlisted in seven of the 12 categories is already an achievement in itself. We are very proud to have reached this far as it shows how Globe works hard to provide innovative and world-class products and services to its customers,†said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications.
Telecom Asia Awards are the region’s longest-running and most prestigious telecom industry awards, rewarding innovative and outstanding performance by Asian service providers and industry executives.
Globe Telecom President and CEO was nominated in the Best Telecom CEO of the Year category, competing with SK Telecom’s Sung Min Ha, Softbank’s Masayoshi Son, Tata Communications’ Vinod Kumar and another from a local telco.
On the other hand, Globe GoUNLI30 and Globe-Google Freezone are among the finalists in the Most Innovative Partnership Strategy and Most Innovative Telecom Project, respectively, two of the most hotly contested categories, having received between 10 and 14 nominations each.
Other categories where Globe was nominated include: Best Broadband Carrier (Tattoo), Best Emerging Markets Carrier, Best Cloud Based Service (Globe Business Cloud Payroll), and Most Advanced Approach to CEM (Talk2Globe).
Across all categories, Telecom Asia received a record number of self-nominations which the 23 members of the judging panel reviewed before finalizing their own nominations.
The company which will receive the most points across all categories during voting will be hailed the Best Asia Telecom Carrier.
Final selection is made by an independent panel of industry experts who will cast votes on the basis of innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership and corporate governance. The awards will be presented on May 7 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Jakarta.
Last year, Globe was a finalist in three categories and won the Most Innovative Telecom Project for the revolutionary Globe mySUPERPLAN, the first ever postpaid plan in the world that allows subscribers to create their plan according to their needs. (FREEMAN)
