Mall rezoning gives way to more tenants

Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Augusto Go-led shopping center Elizabeth Mall ((E-mall) officially opened its Service Lane yesterday that houses service-oriented enterprises as part of the mall’s rezoning strategies to become a one-stop shop in the South.

E-mall marketing and events coordinator Ivy Cindy Marie Abella said that the mall is  rezoning  to accommodate three major fast food chains that will open in the second half of this year. They will start their construction next month.

Retail outlets which were previously located at the ground floor of the west and east wings of the shopping mall are now occupying one-half of the third level.

The activity center and the play area at the third floor which is beside the mall’s food court were converted to become the Service Lane.

It currently houses 18 tenants engaged into bill payment services, remittances, money changing, optical services, ticketing, printing and travel agencies.

These include Tonix Print Box, M Lhuillier, Cebuana Lhuillier, A1 Driving Co., Inc., Neo Travellers, HP Acebedo Optical Clinic, Kodak Express, Skyliner Services Corporation, Philippine Lotto Authorized Outlet, Alchor Forex Money Changer, Suarez Bros. Metal Arts, Inc., InkPro Refilling Center, Wow Travel and More, R&R Optical, Western Union Money Transfer, and Print Mall.

“Our customers already now have the convenience to get the services they need after they eat in the mall or opt to eat while waiting for their services to be processed. We want E-mall to be a one-stop shop for everything the market needs,” Abella said.

To date, E-mall has a total of 300 tenants. Abella cited that they have recorded an increase of their daily foot traffic that is now at 3,000 per day.

During the 10th anniversary of E-mall, Go announced their plans of a possible expansion by another 11,000 square meters of ground area. Although he did not disclose further details on such development, he said that they are closely studying the targeted 1.1-hectare mall expansion.

It was December of last year that the mall opened its “The Stage”, a performing arts theater that will cater to concerts, graduations, conferences, performances and other gatherings. It was formerly the mall’s lone movie house.

E-mall located in downtown Cebu first opened in December 2003. It ventured into its second phase of expansion at the eastbound Sanciangko area of the mall’s property last 2008.

Dubbed as the “Shopping Center of the South”, E-mall caters to across all market segments particularly to students and young professionals. (FREEMAN)
