STC culminates summer workshop

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - With the theme, “My Country, My Future,” Theresians showcased their talents and skills  and expressed their commitment towards social transformation in the culminating activities of the different workshops held in St. Theresa’s College on April 29-30.

In the Public Speaking Workshop, the pupils presented an array of speeches by famous Filipino leaders focused on the citizens’ role in nation building.  On the other hand, the members of Creative Writing /Journalism Workshop attended the talk given by Mr. Joeberth Ocao, the Copy Editor of The Freeman, who emphasized becoming catalyst of change through responsible campus journalism.   Public Speaking, Creative Writing/Journalism together with Culinary Workshops finally ended their sessions with a joint closing activity which included exhibit of outputs and distribution of certificates and awards.

Stressing the value of our environment, the Theatre Workshop staged a dance-drama entitled “On The Day You Were Born” which was directed by Mrs. Delia Aliño Villacastin.   The members of Sports Workshops concluded their athletic activities with game competitions in volleyball, badminton and softball.

Other workshops like piano, violin and guitar closed their summer classes with a recital  held  at the STC AVR  on May 11.

The pupils who enrolled in the summer workshops did not only hone their basic skills and talents in academic and interest workshops but they have also found the opportunity for artistic expression of their dream for a better Philippines.  — Contributed by  Hannaniña Marie  Mantos and Sharmel Loree Segarra (FREEMAN)
