CIS undergoes reaccreditation process
CEBU, Philippines - In April 2013, Cebu International School, underwent the Council of International Schools (CIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) re-accreditation process. Accreditation defines standards that support the continuous improvement of international education. It is an ongoing quality assurance process to enhance student learning.
The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global non-profit membership organization that provides services to elementary and secondary schools, higher education institutions and individuals focused on international education. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is an organization that accredits public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States and areas of the Pacific and East Asia.
At the end of the three-day visit, Mr. Peter Gittins (CIS) and Dr. Kim Marshall (WASC), noted that Cebu International School has a strong sense of community and high regard for the traditions and ethos of the school; has a clear set of Guiding Statements which underpin the operations of the school; that the Board has sound knowledge of its roles and responsibilities and those of the Superintendent; that there is a strong commitment to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years and Diploma Programmes; there is a collective commitment to student welfare that was demonstrated across the school; and that the Board strongly supports the school’s faculty and staff during an exceptionally difficult period in the school’s history.
As an internationally accredited school, Cebu International School is recognized worldwide by other educational institutions for its intellectual rigor, commitment to continuous improvement and quality education.
The WASC-CIS report provides Cebu International School a framework for planning and on-going school improvement. (FREEMAN)
