Coffee vending machines pushed as alternative biz

Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Venturing into a new add-on to his line of business, Cebu’s “iron” entrepreneur recommended coffee vending machines as worthy investment and alternative source of income for aspiring and start-up businessmen.

RNC Marketing founder and chief executive officer Rey Calooy said in an interview that it is high time to promote paradigm shift in entrepreneurship among business-minded individuals that they could actually start a small-scale investment without much hassle and inconvenience.

Such advocacy prompted him to venture into a new evolution and supplementary in his usual enterprise, thus putting up 5bucks café vending machine business which is good for start-up entrepreneurs.

Since coffee shops are dedicated to high-end market segment, he decided to revolutionize an innovative business that could reach out to the masses with convenience and affordability.

One can start with an initial investment of P16,000 or P19,500 for two to three flavors package deal of an easy-to-use machine and supply of consumables produced by RNC Marketing.

The basic package for P16,000 has free 2 kilos of coffee mix and 2 kilos of chocomix with 400 cups while for P19,500, it covers free 2 kilos of coffee, 2 kilos of choco, and 2 kilos of cappuccino mix with 600 cups.

The easy-to-use equipment made in Korea and China is designed to complement with Calooy’s vendo packs of coffee, choco and cappuccino powder.

The machine that stands 2 feet could accommodate 50 to 100 cups that are good for one day of consumption.

Calooy cited that start-up vendors could actually take advantage of vending machine business since there is no experience required, has flexible working hours, can work full-time, part-time or even as an absentee owner, never have to deal with a boss, has low overhead, good financing options, immediate cash income and tax advantages.

He further noted that such venture is an all-cash business since all sales transactions are immediately paid in cash, recession-proof as people tend to buy more retail in times of crisis, requires minimal maintenance and  no need to hire sales employees even if it could be open 24 hours a day.

Given the increasing demand for coffee with the coffee-holic Filipinos, he added that there is an excellent return of investment within 3 to 4 months since a gross profit per cup is at P2.11 and could reach P6,330 monthly with 100 cups sold daily.

Ideal locations, he added, for coffee vending machines include restaurants,  hospitals, drugstores, banks, government and private offices, hotels and condo lobby, gasoline stations, cinemas, terminals, bakeries, business process outsourcing companies, internet cafes, schools canteens and review centers, catering and party areas, funerals, billiards hall, parlors, conferences and events, passenger vessels, street corners with high foot traffic, and public markets.

Calooy started with his coffee vending machine business last August and has already more than 200 clients to date.

His showroom for his 5bucks café vending machines is located at Lagtang Road, Talisay City Cebu. — (FREEMAN)
