Consolacion initiates livelihood projects to push development

CEBU, Philippines - The municipality of Consolacion is spearheading an innovative drive in organizing livelihood projects and other economic activities to enhance and foster development on the quality of its constituents.

Dubbed as the Movement for Progressive Consolacion (MPC), the program serves as a new vehicle and venue for continued progress that primarily focuses on change and development of the town.

It plans to engage in raising funds from local or foreign government and non-government offices that will initiate educational assistance, loan grants, hospitalization and medical needs, and micro-financing.

It is also intended to awaken community consciousness and belongingness through contributions to the progress of the municipality, policies and mechanisms.

MPC further enables members from each barangay to take part and show active participation in the community.

For the first batch, members of the multi-sectoral organization of 21 barangays received three kilos of rice each for P10 and an identification card as a premiere access to other grants and benefits.

Initially launched last June 3, MPC is an independent, non-stock and non-profit organization with 10, 000 families as beneficiaries to date.

Supported by the Former Mayor Avelino J. Gungob Sr., MPC Leaders and its members are committed to provide a better way of living in Consolacion.
