Useless skywalks
Most pedestrian skywalks are useless as they are not being used properly.
If you are among the many who pass by the Talamban Elementary School in the mornings and afternoons, you must have noticed how useless the skywalk in the area is.
Even the barangay tanod tasked to help maintain order in the area is helping those who don’t use the skywalk cross the street.
This is the case in many other skywalks in front of schools. What is sad is that those who refuse to use them are the adults, who are supposed to teach the children the right thing to do.
If the adults cannot do it right, then the kids would think that is the right way of doing it. We cannot have a government that is run by people, who have no political will to get things done.

The heavy flooding in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon should already serve as a lesson for us.
We should not wait for the same problem to hound us, so this early let us do something.
One common complaint we receive from fellow motorists is that they see others, who jus throw their trash out of their cars.
One reader said that he never voted for a veteran politician again after he saw somebody throw trash outside of the politician’s car after they left the parking area of a church.
The reader said that he is sure it wasn’t the politician, who threw away the trash, but he could have told whoever did it to dispose of garbage properly.
The area where our office is located is among those that are flood-prone in Cebu City.
As we have been in this area for more than 20 years now, we can compare the floods in the past to the recent floods.
Before the floods would just be ankle deep, now, they can be knee deep in the intersection of Jakosalem and V. Gullas Sts.

The CITOM said that signs will be put up to inform drivers that cargo trucks, fuel tankers, and other similar vehicles would be banned from the tunnel at the South Road Properties.
The signs would help, but with the attitude of the drivers here, we need enforcers in the area to apprehend violators.
This also goes for other areas of Metro Cebu where traffic signs are neglected.
