Skygo's 'King' returns

- Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Skygo recently launched its premier business model in the motorcycle arena – the fully-developed King with its new look. Since it was first introduced in 2000, King has been known as the flag-carrier of the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer for business and livelihood purposes.

Skygo International Motorcycles Marketing and Brand Manager Michael Rene Aquino said that after more than a decade in the Philippines, Skygo decided to stop the production of King in order to do further research and development.

“Now, King is more on its perfect form. We made it look like more high-tech and up-to-date. It is called King for it is the best and the strongest which represents Skygo,” he said during the Skygo launch of the all-new King 2012 model last July 17 at Pacific Mall, Mandaue City.

He added that the model serves as a multi-purpose vehicle, which is best suited for the needs of the low-income segment, who considers motorcycle as an aide for their living.

Aside from its over-all look, he cited that the new model is side-car ready and has a fuel-efficient engine.

Moreover, he noted that the sales of the motorcycle company did not show any decline and the Wizard 125 is its bestseller.

Aquino said that the company has very bright prospects for the King 2012 model.

He also said that the motorcycle business as a “sunshine” industry since it has been reported that there are 6000 motorcycles from all brands are sold every month and registered nationwide.

Of that figure, he added, Skygo has a 3% share of the market.

“We have a chance to show them. What we are proud of is that we offer the best when it comes to our one-year warranty, spare parts support and price. What’s great about us that we may not be on top but padung pa mi’g saka,” he said.

He further revealed that Skygo aims to open a new store every month to reach the target of 100 stores by 2015.

Currently, Skygo has 57 branches nationwide.

He also said that they strategically choose the shop’s location to be situated beside or near branded motorcycle companies since prospective buyers who prefer branded ones still choose to find other options in other shops.

The King 2012 model is now offered at P45,000 from its previous price of P49,000.

It comes in black color and will be available in more colors next year.

“Basta makahibawo sila ug ma-try nila, I’m sure they will like it. I don’t need flowery words. It’s already there,” Aquino stated.

King was also launched in Davao last July 16 and will be launched in Manila on July 26 and in Cagayan de Oro by next month. (FREEMAN)
