Campaigns Cebu partners with global advertising firm

CEBU, Philippines - In need of a unified effort towards communication and marketing progress within and across the country, a multinational advertising and communications company and a local agency declared partnership to better serve the growing clientele in the Visayas and Mindanao markets. During their launch party held at Harolds Hotel last May 31, Campaigns Cebu announced that it has now officially transformed to Campaigns and Grey Cebu effective last May 1.

Campaigns and Grey Group Chairperson Yoly Ong said that it has been the company’s interest to merge with Cebu as it mirrors a strong performance in the marketing arena.

“There is a growth potential in Asian countries and Philippines is one of them. We need to market ourselves much, much better to the world and Manila, Cebu and Davao are in fact growing and we see much progress. We want something of relationship with Cebu. And now that we just added “grey” to the whole furnishing, Manila is now part of Cebu in a better, closer way. And we’re proud of that. We see that Cebu would be very much at par in the whole country,” she said.

Aside from the change of the name and status, she added that the global clients of Campaigns and Grey will also become clients of the Vis-Min markets and vice versa with the company’s “huge” resources particularly the access to proprietary planning tools, marketing studies and other marketing communication trends from all over the world under the banner of WPP, a holding company of Campaigns and Grey.

Ong further said that the company strives to live up to its mantra which is “famous and effective” in the advertising world as they target both awards and marketing success at the same time.

“Companies known for marketing success sometimes do not win awards; those who win awards sometimes do not have marketing success. We have to have both and we try our best to do that. Our contract with our clients is not just about winning awards but selling their products. It’s one way of giving them justice and effectivity as an advertising company,” she stated.

Moreover, she noted that with the partnership of Campaigns Cebu and Campaigns Grey, both will have the same share of the systems in information and technology, equipment, upgrade and finance.

She added that by coming to Cebu which is known for its creativity, the company intends to study the local behavior and not altering it for the company to survive longer.

“Cebu is different. I believe we were not the first to come here. They never succeeded because they went bringing all their global and Manila clients without bothering to study the local market. I always thought we would succeed when others failed,” Ong said.

With Zen Pastoriza as the Managing Director and Vicki Pastoriza Director for Client Services, Campaigns and Grey-Cebu expects to have more clients in the Visayas region as it goes globally-equipped with its networks and resources.

Aside from Cebu, Campaigns and Grey also has an affiliate with Campaigns Davao to handle marketing communications for Mindanao clients.

Operating for about 25 years in the advertising sector, major clients of the company include GlaxoSmithKline, Procter & Gamble, Sun Cellular, SM Super Malls, Universal Robina Corporation, and Wyeth Philippines.  (FREEMAN)
