CEBU, Philippines - In celebration of Earth Day 2012, Global Business Power Corporation, through its subsidiaries Cebu Energy Development Corporation and Toledo Power Company, conducted a mangrove enrichment activity last April 24 at Barangay Talavera, Toledo City, Cebu.
In solidarity with Mother Earth, Global Power planted 4,350 mangrove propagules in the area during the event. This was in addition to the 12,000 mangroves planted and nurtured by Global Power since 2006 at the ten-hectare mangrove area in Talavera, Toledo City.
Aside from the employee-volunteers of the two power firms, also present during the activity were the barangay officials of Talavera and representatives from the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO-Toledo).
The mangrove enrichment activity for Earth Day supports one of the core values of Global Power — “Care for the Environment,” under the KABILIN Program. Global Power embarks on several corporate social responsibility projects focusing on health, education, environment, livelihood and other special projects. (FREEMAN)
