HP rolls out latest virtualization tech
CEBU, Philippines - Helping companies take advantage and simplify the path to cloud computing, HP has rolled out its newest virtualization technology in Cebu.
The HP Virtualization System, was launched in the Philippines, piloting Cebu recognizing the sizeable number of corporations and SMEs that are technology savvy, and are willing to invest on technology updates in order to compete.
The HP Virtualization System portfolio, based on HP Converged Infrastructure consists of highly optimized, turnkey server and client virtualization solutions.
“Adopting to technology is not enough. The ones that capitalize technologies are the ones who succeed today,” said HP Philippines’ Veronica Escalante.
Based on the IDC outlook, about 69 percent of the workloads by 2016 will be virtualized. HP’s introduction into the virtualization technology is aimed at helping companies to take off in maximizing the fast moving and developing cloud computing generation.
In the next 12 months, about 75 percent of enterprise have client virtualization on their agenda, while 76 percent of enterprises are now pursuing private cloud, IDC study showed.
On the other hand, while this technology has become the backbone of every company’s competitive edge, the advent of virtualization also posts challenges, of which business owners should address seriously.
Escalante said the increased complexity, insufficient security, performance bottlenecks, and lack of scalability, are just few of the challenges that businesses are facing in this technology-driven environment.
Because of these profound issues, HP has developed its own solution to help companies achieve easier application to updated, yet complex technology development.
The number priority today amongst IT decision makers is to employ and adopt converged infra solutions. HP’s virtualization system portfolio provides the solutions of these challenges, she said.
By converging hardware, virtualization software, management, consulting offerings and HP Solutions Support services, clients can save up to 50 percent in deployment time, “enabling them to focus on more strategic projects for their organizations.”
She explained that the energy-efficient HP Virtual System offerings are built on the HP Blade System platform—HP P4000/3PAR storage and HP Flex Fabric networking technologies. As a result, they support up to three times more virtual machines per server, three times the I/O bandwidth and twice the memory as competing offerings.
Also, HP Virtual System portfolio, she added is heterogeneous, supporting existing IT investments, multiple hypervisor strategies and operating systems with common architecture, management and security model.
Further, HP Virtual System provides a simple path to cloud computing by utilizing similar hardware infrastructure and management environments as HP Cloud System.
HP offers three scalable deployment systems for small, midsize and large enterprises. Each includes leading virtualization technologies from Microsoft or VMware, as well as the leading operating systems and applications.
Escalante emphasized that with the ability to support up to 6,000 virtual machines in a single system, the solutions deliver maximum performance and accelerate time to application value. (FREEMAN)
