BPOs see the local market as emerging growth driver
CEBU, Philippines - Aside from serving the foreign markets, outsourcing companies are now seeing the local market as one of its growth drivers, while corporations are realizing the importance of communicating with clients in their first language.
Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) chairman Bong Borja said that there is a growing domestic market for outsourcing, may it be in the customer relations, translation services, among others.
In fact, Borja, who is the president of Aegis Philippines said that the company is currently working with a growing number of Philippine-based corporations that have decided to outsource some of their back-end operations, just like what the foreign companies are doing.
Significantly, the current and pioneering development is the decision of Globe Telecom to provide “Visayan-speaking” customer service representatives to serve their growing Bisaya-speaking clients.
According to Borja, this trend is expected to grow, while companies are now reaching out to their clients in a more personalized way, and “speaking their language” is one way to serve their clients effectively.
Meanwhile, British outsourcing firm Lingo24, which has an outsourcing office in Cebu, that serves clients from all over the world, also announced its move to provide translation services to different dialects in the Philippines.
In an interview with Lingo24 founder Christian Arno, he said that companies in the Philippines serving the different regions in the country, with unique dialects also realized the importance of translation to effectively communicate to their specific target markets.
Similarly, according to Arno, exporters in the Philippines now, also need to embrace the emerging trend of using local languages in each country in order to reach out clients. —(FREEMAN)
