CEBU, Philippines - The projected increase in the Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) in the Philippines, is seen to open up good business opportunities for professionals such as lawyers, accountants, nurses, radiologists, and even medical doctors to take advantage of the outsourcing phenomenon.

Today, while almost everything is done via “cloud computing,” professionals are not only limited to provide their expertise within their home cities or countries, but they can offer their professional skills globally.

Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) chairman for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), BPO/IT committee Jerry Rapes said that professionals should start off getting clients from all over the world and offer their expertise via clouds, or via the Internet.

Professionals that should group themselves together, providing different expertise in whether in the medical field, law, accounting, human resource, among others could actually start off with KPO business on their own.

“There are a lot of medical services that can be off-shored,” said Rapes adding that the Philippines surplus of nursing professionals, should take advantage of the cloud, without having them apply work abroad, but getting the same “take-home” pay, via the cloud computing services.

This is the new trend now, of which professionals do not have to go physically to the country, where their employers are located, “everything will be done via the cloud, or internet.”

KPO, is one of the sub-sectors in the outsourcing industry that opens up opportunity for Filipino professionals to participate and take-part of the multi-billion-dollar outsourcing industry in the world, of which the United States, is no longer the lone markets.

Medical doctors for instance, that take advantage of the popularity of tele-medicine practice, Rapes said.

Filipino consultants in accounting, human resource, including marketing and advertising can offer their expertise globally, as there are a lot of multinational companies around the world using cloud to seek for good and affordable professionals to help man their operational requirements including HR, marketing and planning, accounting, among others.

Although, there are big and established companies that are offering similar services to the world market, Rapes said Filipino professionals could actually group together, established an organized group or company, and take advantage of the KPO.

KPO is an emerging segment in the outsourcing sector that the Philippines has yet to penetrate. Currently, this market is dominated by India.

This middle and higher level outsourcing services will need professionals such as financial analysts, people who have degree and masters in human resource management, accountants, among others. (FREEMAN)
