Road craters

MOTORIST’S CORNER - Nimrod NL Quiones -

Last week, we wrote about the sad state of the road leading to the Talisay City Hall in Barangay Mohon. When we passed the area yesterday, there were people at work on the road.

We hope that the Talisay City government would also include part of the road that heads out to the boundary with Minglanilla as some portions of it are also in a very poor state.

Many of our readers wonder what is going to be done about the 50-meter stretch of the very busy Pakigne-Tubod Road in the town of Minglanilla, which seems to have been neglected.

Although there was work being done of the drainage, it seems that the project has been abandoned or just simply being worked on at a very slow pace.

The residents in the area are hoping to see something happen very soon. They are at least happy that the problem on the area that used to be always flooded has been solved.

A reader suggested that the police stop all those who are riding in tandem on motorcycles as a way to stop the spate of robberies.

While this suggestion could be a solution to the problem, it could also create another problem for those who have no other means of transportation.

The police know what they ought to do and we will leave it to them to implement their solution to the problem.

We believe that the first step to putting a stop to these crimes is for the people to have trust and confidence in our police force.

We can serve as the eyes and ears of the police and report criminal activities that we have knowledge of. While it’s true that some policemen are not following the straight and narrow path, they are only a minority.

More readers are complaining about craters (not anymore potholes) on the roads.

One of the areas where such can be found is the junction of Benedicto and Rahmann Sts., Barangay Zapatera.

You can also feel many of them when passing through the South Road Properties and the North Reclamation Area.

What is the city doing about these?

Maybe the officials are too busy with politics to care for the real needs of the constituents.
