What to believe

New year always brings with it new hope; a chance to change for the better. With it also comes a new set of beliefs. Feng Sui experts have told us that this year will welcome the black water dragon. 

The depth of the water that the dragon brings or inhabits also declares the depth of wealth that is expected. There will be many opportunities for financial growth and business is bound for better harvests. The downside is, we will expect political unrest and calamities. We are used to this. It is wealth we don’t have. So we prefer to believe the good news.

For the superstitious, the wearing of dotted clothes or striped shirts declare the desire for more money in coins and bills. Round shaped fruits, no matter how unripe or rancid, as long as they conform with the required shape was supposed to reap in the gold. Others attempt to thwart this practice by giving a new requirement of fruits having no black seeds. Silly! Still we try to comply.

The desperation for wealth has caused us to follow the things we wish would attract the “good vibes” that would fill the vaults.

It is easy for us to put to trial all these beliefs. Thinking that following would not make us loose anything, we unknowingly, lose a lot of faith.

When we transfer our focus on what we think we can do, we forget to rely on the goodness and the provision of God.

Now, before you think I am preaching, let’s look at the good book, the Bible. There is better news which has been given to us in the Bible; more reliable and consistent. Unlike the round fruits, the printed shirts and the talismans, the only requirement in the Bible is faith. Now you’ll say that is difficult! How can one manifest faith? 

My question is, why does one easily believe cosmic sciences, séance, core energy, and the supernatural and not believe the very source of all goodness?

When God promises, He will do it! When He said in Malachi 3:10-12 that He will fill up our barns and protect our crops and shield us from devourers, HE CAN DO THAT! The news that through whatever circumstance we will prosper and be free from disease is a promise He can fulfil to those who truly believe and OBEY. The thing is we look for shortcuts because we are not sure of the obedience part. The rules of God give order to mankind. They help us live full, simple, yet joyful lives. 

I suggest, this year, we check our Bibles. Read it. Discover the best way to wealth that is shaken, pressed down and overflowing!
