CEBU, Philippines - Cloud computing leader Netsuite Inc., partners with Cebu-based universities and colleges for its worldwide “SuiteAcademy” program.

Netsuite, the industry’s leading provider of cloud-based financial and ERP software suites, already have an existing partnership with the University of San Carlos, and it aims to expand the program here, by touching base with other universities.

James Dantow, general manager for NetSuite Philippines said that the company is looking at partnering with Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT), University of Cebu (UC), and University of the Visayas (UV), and other big universities here.

Dantow said there is a need for universities to be fully introduced into cloud computing technology, as this is the fast growing trend now.

He said students should learn the cloud ERP system, while companies all over the world are now using the cloud for outsourcing needs.

Worldwide, Netsuite has sixteen partner universities, that have shifted to cloud by adopting NetSuite as a key component of their accounting degree curricula, these include; University of California-Los Angeles; University of Toronto; Mapua Institute of Technology; De La Salle Univesity and USC in Cebu.

NetSuite Inc. chief executive officer (CEO) Zach Nelson said that these institutions have embraced NetSuite, for the same reasons that thousands of companies worldwide have switched from on-premise software to the NetSuite cloud.

Zach said that today’s companies have realized that cloud computing promotes efficiency and productivity to fight tougher competition, to avoid integration hassles, and escape the vicious cycle o software upgrade and the high maintenance costs caused by on-premise software such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, and QuickBooks.

The NetSuite cloud computing solution is predominantly introduced in the third and fourth year degree programs, meaning that the next generation of managers, entrepreneurs, and business professionals can come to the job market with a stronger understanding of business operations and a clear understanding of the power cloud computing.

Zach said NetSuite has been working with universities for years because education sales and accounting programs are increasingly recognizing that the same trends affecting the global business community are reflected in the classroom environment.

As the demand for cloud-based business management solutions grow, Zach said it is high time that NetSuite will lead in the full introduction of cloud computing technology to tomorrow’s business leaders so that they must be ready to hit the ground running with an understanding of the cloud computing revolution.

NetSuiteAcademy gives students the same access to NetSuite software that companies have been benefiting from for years.

Combined with professor developed curriculum, students can expect to learn the entire business process end to end, and learn how NetSuite customers are able to make better and faster decisions.

Likewise, faculty new to the program can have access to online trainings and downloadable material, allowing them to develop custom content for their courses. Faculty can also benefit from a community forum that allows them to share ideas with SuiteAcademy administrators and other program participants. —(FREEMAN)
