Street carolers and bad roads
The authorities better stop talking and do their job. The police in Cebu City have announced that they would apprehend those who would carol on the streets especially those who go inside jeepneys.
On our way to the office yesterday afternoon, we again saw several of these carolers at the junction of Gen. Maxilom, Imus and M. J. Cuenco and nobody was there to apprehend them.
Our roads would be safer without these kids roaming around. Yes, it is the season for giving, but these people are a major threat to safety and must be stopped.

We received email from Tita Monette Aliño last week in response to the one sent by Mr. Taber.
Here is her email:
Mr. Taber is sooo right! We all love Cebu but the traffic can be exhausting.
These days it can be nightmarish especially since roads are being fixed. Take for instance the road along Capitol. At long last, it is being fixed and some (two or three?) workers do their job. We see the thick cement - to our joy! But let’s go to the Guadalupe Bridge! That “sorry for the inconvenience” sign has been there in months but there is no movement at all. Some dilly-dallying. What is the plan for this, may we know? We are on a ONE WAY traffic all the time and with Christmas holidays rushing in, we may find ourselves stranded for hours.
Yes, we need the CITOM. And I pray the government will help solve this problem. Transpo division has to work harder, I agree.
More Power!

Another reader is asking when the houses that were scheduled for demolition in the same area mentioned above would go.
If there is really an intention to get this project moving, something should have already been done now, the reader said.
Another reader also pointed out the very slow work being done by Virlo Construction, which is undertaking the project. We have also personally observed this.
Maybe we don’t just pass the area that often, but we haven’t seen a huge sign that would state how long it would take to undertake the project and how much it costs.

In the Motorists’ Corner page on Facebook, the matter on the poor condition of the roads has been brought up.
There are many roads all over Cebu that are in very bad shape and no repairs are being done.
If the government can set aside P600 million for vehicle overpasses, how come there is no money that can be found to repair our roads. If our roads are repaired, this can address the traffic problem faster without groups holding mass actions opposing the project.
There should be a provision in the Constitution that requires those running for public office to have common sense.
