Hotel firm aims to boost market presence in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Aside from its drastic move to establish its name in Cebu, the Genesis Hotels and Resorts Corporation, also welcomes the possibility of making its presence felt in the province considering its fertile opportunity for tourism related investments.

The group’s assistant vice president for marketing John A. Tanjangco said that as a jump-start, the hotel and resort management chain is strengthening its brand promotion in Cebu, to attract Cebuano travellers to visit its 14 managed properties located around the country.

Although, Genesis Hotels and Resorts, still has no physical presence in Cebu yet, Tanjangco said the company is opening possibilities of managing or partnering a hotel or resort developer to take advantage of Cebu’s tourism edge for both local and international markets.

Next year, the company will be opening its Bohol property that will offer eight villa accommodation facilities including the availability of 170 rooms.

The group manages the Astoria Plaza Hotel in Pasig, the luxurious Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa in Maringduque, the Antel Hotel Spa Suites and A. Venue Hotel Suites in Makati, Astoria Boracay, Batis Balneotheraphy Spa Resort in Pansol, Laguna, Midas Hotel, among others.

Aside from its hotel management, Genesis also operates an institutional laundry service whose clients include the New World Hotel, Hotel Intercontinental, Crowne Galeria, Holiday Inn Galeria as well as Antel and A. Venue.

Genesis also has a third component involving the telemarketing of hotel privilege cards, and a fourth business which involves the provision of hotel accounting, reservations and operations software.

The company has also partnered with AsiaTravel.com, an online marketing portal which manages online marketing and booking services to 600 hotels and resorts in the Philippines.

Earlier, Genesis president Miguel G. Cerqueda, said in a report that the company is expecting to post a 15 percent growth this year, following the company’s acquisition of new management contracts in different destinations in the Philippines.   

Genesis Hotels and Resorts is a Filipino-owned corporation, which core business is into managing hotels, condotels, full-serviced apartments and resorts in the Philippines.

According to Tanjangco, there is a possibility that the company may find good partner in Cebu, considering its booming tourism sector. (BANAT NEWS)
