We received email from a reader about a problem in Talamban that ought to be immediately addressed by the CITOM and the barangay officials.
The reader complained about a business establishment that has used the road without regard for others users.
Here is her email:
Everyday when I drive my children to school in Sacred Heart- Canduman, I pass thru the road going to Pit-os. I notice everyday near the corner to STI Prep school that trucks/vans carrying softdrinks always occupy one side of the road. There is warehouse of softdrinks in that place and their delivery trucks/vans park in the front road day in and day out. With the big trucks going to/from Pulangbato carrying boulders/sands, etc., this cause traffic in that area. This has been the case for quite some time. I just hope that the barangay captain in Pit-os do something about this.
Thanks and more power to you.

Last Saturday we also passed an area near the bridge in Tintay, Talamban where there is a depot for softdrinks.
The trucks were unloading and loading the products on the road.
Barangay Talamban is one area in the city where traffic is terrible. The barangay officials and the CITOM must work hand in hand to ease the flow of traffic especially during peak hours.
The CITOM must also send more people to the area to help ease the flow of traffic. This should have been done years ago, but some people just don’t think hard enough about what are the proper things to be done.

Do we need the flyovers?
We can argue about the pros and cons of erecting two new flyovers, but who really decides in the end?
Our worry is the congestion that would be caused during the construction of the structures and we hope that if ever this would push through, those in charge of traffic would carefully think of ways to make it easier for motorists and commuters.
It might help to do the road widening first, but that is just our opinion and we are no engineer.
This is now also a political and not just a traffic issue, which only means one thing – it’s going to get crazier.

There was a plan to close a portion of the Marcelo Fernan Bridge yesterday for a pictorial in relation to the Davis Cup tie between the Philippines and Chinese-Taipei.
A reader sent us a text message in the morning criticizing the plan.
It was a good thing that the organizers themselves called it off due to traffic concerns.
