Family and Business Inheritance Conference slated on October 1

- Ehda Dagooc -

CEBU, Philippines - The Premier Business Inc., a Cebu-based financial and estate planning firm, in cooperation with a pool of value-oriented professionals from different fields of expertise, will be holding the first Family and Business Inheritance Conference this coming October 1 (2011) at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel.

The event dubbed “Achieving Family Unity and Prosperity Across Generations: The Business of Being a Family,” will be participated by six of the country’s financial experts that will reveal the secrets to successful management of inherited assets.

According to Premier Business president Jonathan Ramos, learning the value of preserving a family legacy is the key to successfully grow and sustain a family's financial and business inheritance.

"If one does not understand the emotional inheritance that goes with the financial inheritance, there is a 90 percent probability that one will squander the financial inheritance. It does not matter how much or how little the inheritance is. If the next generation is prepared to receive and administer the legacy, it will grow along with relationships in the family," said Ramos.

A pioneer graduate of the US-based International Association of Registered Financial Consultancy, Ramos will serve as one of the speakers of the conference.

He added that the event will empower families and incorporators across generations to plan, look ahead, and create a synergized course of action in ensuring the sustainability of their family wealth.

"The event will also teach families on how to eliminate chaos that can take place over inheritance issues and preserve unity and prosperity across generations," said Ramos.

Other prominent speakers include Ed Morrow, chairman and CEO of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants; Atty. Jim Lopez, author of best-selling Philippine law books; Atty. Vic Mamalate, an inheritance tax expert; Prof. Jacob Cabochan, associate consultant at the Ateneo Family Business Development Center; and Maribel Dionisio, a family communication expert.

Topics to be discussed include "Financial and Emotional Wealth: Legacies Families Leave Behind", "Crafting the Family Financial Blueprint", "Establishing Clear Ownership: Asset Protection and Ownership Planning", "Estate Planning and Inheritance Tax: Issues Families Should Prepare For", "Family Constitution and Governance", and "Family Communication: A Tool to Building Trust".

The 1st Family Inheritance Conference is supported by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ayala Business Club of Cebu Inc., Ateneo de Cebu, PAREF Southcrest, University of the Visayas, Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice-Cebu Chapter (ACPAPP), Graphic Star, and PR Works.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Children's Hour Philippines, Inc. and the Congregation of the Oblate Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer (OSR), Inc. for education, food, shelter, protection and therapeutic intervention for children. — (FREEMAN)
