CEBU, Philippines - Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur penetrates into the fertile job market in Cebu through the introduction of iTrabaho.com portal, which provides the easiest, simplest online job matching between employers and job seekers.
John Kim, who owns an entity called Human Capital in Silicon Valley, California, has partnered with the Cebu Educational Development for Information Technology (CEDFIT) through a separate US-registered company Now Media Group, to reach out to the academe/colleges and universities, the industry players, and help solve the problem of human resource matching between industry and manpower pool.
According to Kim, iTrabaho.com do away from complexity of applying via the traditional online job sites, and now gives applicants convenience by linking its site to SMS, which makes it the first job site offer “Text-to-Apply” feature.
CEDFIT executive director Jun Sa-a said that this partnership with Now Media Group is a timely venture, while Cebu is needing a system that gives “intelligent matching” for employers and employee.
Aside from its “Text-To-Apply” feature, a registered job seeker will also be included in the data-base of iTrabaho.com which employers can look into, without requiring the applicant to upload his/her resume to every interested employer.
“No existing technology today [in the Philippines] that allows one to send resume via SMS,” Kim said.
Developed by Cebuano programmers, the site will not only limit its employer membership to Cebu-based companies but eventually also invite firms from all over the Philippines.
Although, there are also ready existing job sites operating in the Philippines, as well those that are locally-operated in Cebu, Kim said iTrabaho offers innovations that will make job hunting much easier.
In the long term, he said Now Media Group will expand its coverage to outside of the Philippines, linking with employers around the world, probably start with Korea, Singapore, among other countries.
Also, the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) had expressed its support for iTrabaho.com, to inform its member companies to avail of the services offered by the innovative job site.
Cedfit, a non-profit organization, which mandate is to help develop the manpower pool particularly in the BPO/ICT industry in Cebu, may be able to provide free-training or affordable talent/skill improvement trainings for manpower pool, through the expected revenue of this venture, Sa-a said.
Kim’s Human Capital company in Silicon Valley, is a market-entry firm that has been operating for years. It provides informative data for companies wanting to expand in other territories or in other countries.
This time, Kim said he is determined to grow the Cebu-based iTrabaho.com, into a big global job site company, but it has to build its business first locally. (FREEMAN)
