CEBU, Philippines - As the world becomes smaller and businesses are constantly pressured to cut cost, communications solutions company Globe Telecoms opened in Cebu its second Tele-presence facility in the country.
After it established a similar facility in Manila last year, the Ayala-controlled telecom leader decided to provide Cebu a world-class technology on Tele-presence, as it recognized the fast growing number of Multinational companies (MNCs), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) investors, as well as dynamic export sector here.
Located at the ground floor of Globe Telecom IT Plaza at the Asiatown IT Park, in Lahug, the facility allows enterprises to connect to colleagues and partners all over the world using three 65-inch full high definition plasma screens and spatial audio.
Providing an experience of a close to real round-table meeting, the Tele-Presence facility provides a cost cutting opportunity for businesses and business executives in terms of spending travel money, and time.
Globe Telecoms head of Enterprise Segments at Globe Business Jesus C. Romero said that the Tele-presence is ideal for critical discussions and negotiations where facial reactions must be discernable for clarity and effective communications.
“Today, we link up Manila and Cebu via Globe Tele-presence and through these facilities enterprise customers can connect to more Tele-presence rooms globally than any other provider in the Philippines today,” Romero said.
Doing away with travel for business meetings, it speeds up decision-making, increases productivity, fast tracks time to market, and mitigates risks from disasters, terrorism and pandemics, Romero said.
Globe selected AT&T for its expertise in successfully building and managing networks around the world. Globe Tele-presence connects enterprises to other businesses, educational institutions, and other users of the AT&T Business Exchange, a feature of the AT&T Tele-presence Solution, representing more than 2,000 end-points worldwide. The AT&T Tele-presence Solution can support Tele-presence rooms from 75 countries and territories worldwide.
“We continue to support Cebu by boosting its ICT capability with the launch of Tele-presence. Years ago, we introduced the pioneering Freeway—‘Cebu to the World’ service, which allowed enterprises in Cebu to have the most direct connection to the world without having to pass through Metro Manila. We are glad to make available corporations with offices, suppliers, partners and customers’ overseas drive costs down by cutting travel expenses,” stressed Romero.
Also, Globe has implemented Cisco’s technology solutions at their new Tele-presence in Cebu and the highly immerse collaboration solutions combines life-size, ultra high-definition video, spatial audio, a specially designed environment, and inter-active elements to create the feeling of bind in a face-to-face meeting with participants in remote locations.
Using the network as a platform for collaboration it allows Globe to build a global video community, where companies can do more with less, transform their organizations and improve their competitive advantage, Romero said.
