UK-based translation firm to operate in Cebu by April

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu is officially the headquarters of Asian operation of United Kingdom-based translation company Lingo24, following the company’s announcement to officially start its operations on April this year.

Christian Arno, Lingo24 founder and managing director announced in a press conference the creation of all-Cebuano team to manage the Asian operation of the company, starting off the emerging translation outsourcing industry here.

Aside from its inter-Asia clients, Arno said the opening of an Asia headquarter was an immediate need for the company, while growing clients of Ling24 around the world are demanding for contents to be translated to different Asian languages, such as Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, and Japanese, and importantly high English proficiency.

Led by Cebuano Jay H. Famor, who is the head for Asia (APAC) operations, Lingo24 hopes to kick off its commercial operation next month.

According to Arno, Cebu has good supply of highly skilled manpower, including multi-lingual talents, Information Technology geeks, and others.

Lingo24 is one of world’s fast growing translation firms, which has operations in Europe and United States.

Arno emphasized the importance of Asia in today’s global economy, prompting the company to spend multi-million-peso investment to open its office in Cebu.

The company is looking at hiring over a hundred people in the next two years.

The company vowed to give utmost training development for its employees, and diversified career offers to make sure that the Cebu operation to service Asian market will be grounded on real talent for language and translation service.

At present, Ling24 is serving translation requirement of big organizations such BBC (British Broadcasting Company) MTV, Burger King, among others.

Also, one of the company’s largest clients is those organizations which are into tourism and travel.

Although, the translation outsourcing is still new in the Philippine outsourcing industry, Arno believes that the country can leverage on this particular service because of the quality of manpower the country has.
