Smart partners with Canadian remittance service company
CEBU, Philippines - Smart Communications has partnered with a Canada-based remittance service company to strengthen its grip of the Canada-to-Philippines money transfer market, through affordable and secure alternative platform.
The hyperRemit, a low cost Canada-to-Philippines online and mobile and mobile SMS remittance service, recently announced the launching of Smart Money transfer services from Canada to the Philippines for only CAD$6.00 per transfer.
Through the hyperWALLET Systems Inc., hyperRemit and Smart Communications Inc formalized their business partnership.
With this service, Smart announced that Canadian Filipinos can quickly initiate their remittance by phone or through SMS text message. Funds sent via bank deposit, cash pick-up and door-to-door delivery are also made available to the Philippine recipients within one business day, or within 30 minutes, via Smart Money transfers and prepaid airtime loads.
Through the hyperREMIT’s low-cost Smart Money transfer option, senders can immediately remit funds to any Smart subscriber’s mobile phone and accompanying re-loadable Smart Money MasterCard cash card in the Philippines.
“Our partnership with Smart is another example of our desire to create the most extensive global money transfer network for our customers, and leverage cutting-edge mobile payment services in the process”, said Lisa Shields, president and chief executive officer (CEO) at hyperWALLET Systems Inc.
“Through hyperREMIT’s Smart Money transfer option, we are providing both sender and receiver with a fast, secure and cost-effective way to remit funds from Canada to the Philippines, and enabling new financial services for demographics such as unbanked mobile subscribers,” she added.
Canadian Filipinos can use the hyperREMIT service to make low-cost Smart Money transfers by signing up at www.hyperremit.com. Once funds are sent, the Philippine recipient receives an SMS text message notifying them funds are available in their Smart Money account.
They can then use their mobile phone to make bill payments, person-to-person funds transfers and airtime loads, spend funds at merchants, withdraw cash from ATMs via the reloadable Smart Money MasterCard cash card, or pick up money at any Smart Wireless Center in the Philippines.
“This collaboration with hyperREMIT underscores our strategy of engaging the right institutional partners, to offer our mobile commerce services to a wider customer base,” said Napoleon L. Nazareno, SMART President and CEO.
“With this expansion of the Smart Money ecosystem, Filipinos in Canada now have an affordable and secure option of sending money to their loved ones in the Philippines,” Nazareno added.
The hyperREMIT is a low-cost Canada-Philippines mobile remittance service from hyperWALLET Systems Inc., a global payments company based in Vancouver B.C., Canada. The company is licensed money services business registered with FINTRAC, the Canadian government’s financial services business regulator.
SMART on the other hand, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Philippines' leading telecommunications carrier, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT).
