Philips brand now targets lifestyle, wellness market

CEBU, Philippines - Consumer lifestyle household brand Philips will be introducing new product lines in the Philippines as the company is intensifies its shift to become a total lifestyle and wellness solutions provider.

Previously known as an electronics and technology brand, now Philips is banking on its expertise in innovation, to offer overall hardware solutions for the fast growing lifestyle and wellness market.

Recently, Philips held a three-day exhibition of its new product lines, including new items introduced by its sister companies like Avent baby products, among others.

According to Victor Emmanuel C. Caindec, commercial leader and senior manager for Philips Philippines, Cebu is considered as one of the top growth drivers for Philip products in the country.

Thus, the company invested on showcasing its new products during the three-day exhibit at the Ayala Center Cebu (ACC) last January 7 to 9, as part of their participation of the Sinulog Festival.

Caindec said about 60 percent of the showcased products during the exhibit are not yet available in the market, and consumers were given the preview of the products that will be launched in the next few months, as the company strengthens its commitment to provide hardware technology for the specified lifestyle and wellness markets.

The shifting from purely electronics and technology company started about two years ago, as Philips noted that it cannot continue to ‘trail blaze’ with the fast moving technology industry today.

“We cant continue selling technology products ‘per se’ but, we have seen the opportunity to leverage in providing consumer solutions that enabled by technology,” he said.

Regardless of the perceived financial constraints of Filipinos, Caindec said the company is confident to hit a significant growth in the Philippines, and Cebu is considered as one of its growth drivers.

“We feel confident about the Philippine market, especially Cebu,” he said in an interview.

Because of its active stance to become the premier household/lifestyle and wellness technology provider, amid the existence of cheaper products specifically from China, the company is considering to open up a Concept Store in Cebu in the future.

Meantime, he said Philips service center located at Ramos Street this city, will be accepting all Philip brands, and including sister brands like Avent, for product repairs and other customer service concerns.

The introduction of the “future products” to be offered by Philips in lifestyle and wellness segments was officially held first time in Cebu, during the exhibit. Dubbed as “Celebrate Life” the three-day exhibition allowed consumers to experience various Philips products and gadgets as they are used and applied at home.

The living and bedroom showcased Philips audio-video and multi-media line from TV to home theater systems.

The newest personal care gadget Sonicare toothbrush was prominently featured in its bathroom showcase, alongside with hi-tech men shavers, and women’s hair dryers and stylers

Kitchen and kids’ room segments also provided the complete solutions in these two categories introducing new hi-tech kitchen appliances, as well as Avent baby products.

“Given Cebuano’s changing lifestyle of spending more time at home with the family, we believe that Philips is the perfect partner to ‘Celebrate Life’ by making sure of the quality of time spent with loved ones,” Caindec concluded.—(FREEMAN)
