CEBU, Philippines – The Sunsky Development Corporation has initially opened its first venture into hotel business, the Diamond Suites & Residences near the Cebu Business Park (CBP), to provide value-for-money accommodation for local corporate clients.
Now operating on 60 available rooms, the hotel will be fully operational by December of this year, offering a total of 102 rooms and 27 condo-tels for long-staying guests.
In an interview yesterday with hotel manager Ann O. Olalo, she said that in the last three weeks since the hotel’s soft opening, it is already running at a high of 90 percent occupancy rate.
Taking advantage of the economic upswing, specifically in Cebu, Olalo said Diamond Suites will maintain its affordable and value-for-money positioning, although its amenities and services are competitive with the high-end business hotels.
The six-story boutique hotel is situated in a 1,200 square-meter property, along Apitong and Escario streets, adjacent to CBP.
This early, Olalo said the hotel has already booked long staying guests for its condo-tel accommodation, majority are expatriates from working for the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies operating in Cebu.
Long staying guests, stay at least for three months of more. She said this is one of the growing markets for Cebu right now.
Operating with 64 employees, the hotel is one of the newest boutique hotels in Cebu right now, riding the economic dynamism of Cebu.
For its standard accommodation room, Diamond Suites offers P2,626 for an overnight stay with breakfast, and for its De Luxe room price is pegged at P3,400 net with breakfast.
Because it is designed for as a value-for-money business hotel, it has three function rooms and two collapsible board rooms that will accommodate to over 100 guests.
Sunsky Development Corporation which is into shipping and real estate, and part of the Lua Group of Companies, which also operates Philippine Spring Water Resources Inc. (PSWRI), the maker of Nature Spring water brand.
Aside from corporate local market, Olalo said the hotel has also gained interest from several educational tours from outside of Cebu.
The opening of Diamond Suites provides a diverse option for accommodation facilities in Cebu, which is now becoming the center not only for trade and commerce in the Southern Philippines, but also the number one tourism destination in the Philippines. (FREEMAN)
