Exist Global formalizes CCCI membership
CEBU, Philippines – Exist Global, the country's pioneer open source innovator strengthens its support to the Cebu Information and Communication Technology (CICT), by forging partnerships with prime business organizations here, like the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
Since it set up operations in 2005 at Asiatown IT Park, Exist has already worked closely with the community, from the academe to the private sector, and have been instrumental to the de-velopment of the Philippines Software Industry Association (PSIA)- Visayas Chapter as well as participated in various events such as the first Philippine Open Source Summit and Cebu ICT Conferences.
Recently, Exist Global formalized its membership with the CCCI, as it promised to support the organization's advocacy in propelling the growth of ICT industry in CEbu, said Jerry Rapes, Exist Global chief executive officer (CEO).
"Exist can be a powerful ally in CCCI's advocacy and linkage promotion programs given our track record as a global innovation partner to software product vendors, technology start-ups and major enterprises," Rapes said.
Exist Global serves Fortune 500 companies in North America with focus on open source-based solutions-Java and Ruby on Rails application.
It's Cebu facility alone has more than 70 software engineers, technical writers, project managers and web designers, graduates from prestigious universities in Visayas and Mindanao, all contributing to make Cebu as a center for ICT innovation.
According to Rapes this partnership with CCCI illustrates Exist's evolving relationship with the Cebu business ecosystem.
"One of the important projects that we'll be involved with CCCI, together with the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for IT [Cedfit], Tholons Global Services, and the Cebu Invest-ment Promotions Center is the formation of the Information Technology Outsourcing [ITO] and Business Processing Outsourcing [BPO]roadmap of Cebu towards providing more robust, high-end ICT-enabled services at the same time working with organizations such as Developers Connect or DevCon to provide more IT-related jobs to Cebu and its nearby provinces," he added.
Cebu, named number one among the Top 50 Emerging Outsourcing Cities in the World, he said offers a scalable, low cost, and low risk outsourcing destination city in the Philippines with notable ITO capabilities in engineering services, research and development, as well as animation. (FREEMAN)
