CITOM action

MOTORIST’S CORNER - Nimrod NL Quiones -

We received a call from Chairman Sylvan 'Jack' Jakosalem of CITOM late last week informing us that the suggestion of our reader was taken up by the board and they would implement it.

This is the suggestion of Leonardo 'Jojo' Roa to disallow vehicles coming from R. Palma Street to make a left turn going to S. Osmeña near the mouth of the tunnel leading to the South Road Properties.

Although we still saw a lot of vehicle making the left turn last Friday and Saturday, we expect to see the signs, disallowing the maneuver, out this week.

It still seems that many barangays refuse to cooperate and follow the memorandum issued on the use of tents for wakes.

A reader told us that a blue tent was set up on V. Rama Ave. very near the corner of P. del Rosario Extension.

This was set up for a wake, said the reader.

Another reader told us of a tent that was set up on one lane of the road heading to Cabangcalan, Mandaue City.

"Sir, Cebu City pa gyud to kay naa may name ni former mayor Tom sa tents," the reader reported to us.

What is the use then of the memorandum issued by CITOM?

We can have a better city if we all cooperate.

We are among those who have been encouraged to buy the new Shell V-Power Diesel due to the hype about the product.

Although it costs P2.50 more per liter compared to the ordinary diesel fuel, we decided to fill up our tank with the new product early last week.

We did notice an improvement in the response of our vehicle when we step on the accelerator.

We came across the product while filling up the past few weeks and took the opportunity to use it when we found out that it was already available.

We have received so many complaints from the people who pass the Pakigne-Tubod Road in barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla about the drainage problem in the corner in sitio Tingkoro.

This place easily gets flooded when it rains and it takes several days for the water to subside. Since it often rains, the place is always flooded, said one of those who com-plained.

He is asking if the barangay and town officials are doing anything about this problem.

"Those who use this road are not only the residents, but also guests of a popular resort in the next barangay, hugaw kaayo tan awon ang baha," he said.
