Accenture partners with MIT for workers training program
CEBU, Philippines – Accenture Philippines yesterday announced its partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a training and certification program for its technology employees.
As a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, Accenture is one of the largest BPO companies in the Philippines, which employs over 18 thousand people. It kicked off with its training program on July 19 to 21.
The lectures, which focused on “Information Technology in the Year 2020: Building a Collective Intelligence,” is only part and parcel of the Accenture Solutions Delivery Academy (ASDA), which is a collaborative effort between Accenture and MIT Professional Education.
Launched in 2006, Accenture’s ASDA program provides its technology employees around the world with a training and certification program that supports the company’s professional and career development offerings. Qualified employees are those that have completed the specific coursework in the Accenture-MIT PE Solutions Global Curriculum.
The participants then apply the knowledge gained in specific projects and demonstrate mastery of key technology-delivery skills through a series of certification examinations. After completing the requirements, candidates receive either Certified Application Developer or Certified Application Designer certificates. Two new certification tracks, Application Tester and Application Test Designer, were recently added to the program.
Srini Devadas, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), led the lectures on the use of the Internet as a collective repository for intelligence and the challenges of technology.
He was joined by Accenture senior executives, Paul Richardson, global capability lead, and George Son Keng Po, lead of the Delivery Center Network for Technology in the Philippines.
“Accenture is fortunate to have developed a strong collaboration with MIT Professional Education for the ASDA program. This lecture series is additional proof that we continue to reap the fruits of this partnership. Training like this supports our employees, as they help our clients become high performing businesses and governments,” said George Son Keng Po.
To date, more than 22,000 Accenture employees worldwide have enrolled in the ASDA program, over 4,000 of whom have been certified for various tracks. The Accenture Delivery Centers in the Philippines has registered over 2,000 enrollees and about 200 of them have been ASDA certified.
“Accenture is first and foremost a people developer. We invested nearly $900 million in training and development programs for employees in our last fiscal year, and we remain committed to innovative approaches to support their continuous learning and professional development,” said Paul Richardson.
