IF PRODUCTS FAIL TO DELIVER: Energy-saving products manufacturer to pay up

- Jessica B. Natad -

CEBU, Philippines - The mother company of an energy-saving products reseller vows to make a refund if its products fail to deliver the promised savings.

Enigin Philippines, a company based in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan recently launched its energy-saving products to the Cebu market. The products are manufactured by its mother-company based in the United Kingdom.

Enigin Philippines is a franchisee of Enigin PLC (Public Limited Co.), a European company with decades of experience in the energy-saving business. Enigin’s products are designed to help consumers maximize their power use in order to save on cost and avoid power wastages, which might be of use to other consumers.

Indira Santiago of Enigin Philippines said the company’s products “may be the answer” to the power-supply crisis being experienced by the Cebuanos today, as manifested in the rotating brownouts all over the province.

She said the city of Puerto Princesa, under City Mayor Edward Hagedorn, has been a patron of Enigin. In fact, the company in the country started in the said city, when Hagedorn suggested that the city look for ways to save on its power consumption. Aside from the City Hall, Puerto Princesa’s water treatment plant and sanitary landfill are also using Enigin’s products that have allowed the institutions to save up to 25-percent of its energy cost.

Enigin’s energy-savings products are the Eniscope, LESS (light energy saver system), IMEC (intelligent motor energy controllers), CUES (chilled unit energy saver) and the ACES (air conditioning energy-saver.)

Eniscope allows one to monitor energy consumption by providing data and converting it into easy to understand, practical information for business owners. It carries out a 24 by 7 analysis of energy consumption and stores the information for future use.

“Eniscope will tell you exactly what you are spending on powering your business, allowing you to make better decisions on how to use your energy. It can also tell you exactly what individual applications cost to run, how much carbon your business is producing and your best opportunities for substantial savings. These information is delivered over the web, so whether you are in the office, at home or even overseas, you will be able to keep tabs on your energy consumption,” Enigin’s principal partner in the country, Rowena Sofia said.

The LESS on the other hand helps consumers save over 50-percent on lighting costs while IMEC, in the right applications, can save up to 40-percent of the energy consumed by adjusting the amount of energy a motor uses in direct proportions to the job of work it does. Meanwhile, CUES can save up to 30-percent on refrigeration costs while ACES helps save up to 30-percent on air conditioning running costs.

To assure the market of the company’s legitimacy, it is implementing the pay as you save plan, which means that clients pay Enigin only the amount which they are able to save after using Enigin’s products.

The principle is that companies will be audited using computerized energy consumption analyzer before they enter into a contract with Enigin. A certain saving percentage will be determined. Products will be installed based on recommendation to achieve the savings. The promised energy savings, example 22%, will be monitored by Enigin using computerized consumption analyzer. The 22-percent savings will be used to pay as installment payment for the products installed. But if the products fail to deliver the promised savings, Enigin Philippines’ mother company is obliged to pay up.
