CoopCentrum opens today at Kumprahan SuperMerkado
CEBU, Philippines - Kumprahan SuperMerkado, an innovative community store, opens its grocery section, the CoopCentrum today.
The CoopCentrum occupies 1,500 square meters of the 3,500-square meter SuperMerkado, a community store that provides products at market prices and freshness. The store is located inside Bridges Town Square, in Alang-Alang, Mandaue City.
“This is the first community market in the Visayas and Mindanao. The first and only community market in Cebu where one can shop for food like fresh meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables and grocery items at a price that is pocket-friendly and at the convenience of a mall,” Jon Ramos, chief organizer of the Kumprahan said in a press release.
He said Kumprahan, which will be managed by a cooperative with a membership-base of 20,000, will be the “sekreto sa mga suheto” once it fully operates. All the other sections of the store will start operating in May.
“The members will be shopping for their day to day home needs here,” Ramos said.
Aside from the CoopCentrum, the community store will have a Kumpra Living Bazaar area, Kumpra Food Express with known food cart brands and fastfood outlets, KumpraGrains wholesale, KumpraService that will take care of online buying as well as deliveries, and KumpraFresh for farm products like fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers in Cebu, fish and seafoods, poultry and meat products.
The meat and poultry products will be priced at farm-gate prices, as the market gets its supply straight from the farmers in Carcar and Liloan, among others, where hogs and poultries are raised.
Ramos said they will be giving out reward cards, called “Kumpra Na Plus Card,” to those who will be shopping at the CoopCentrum from April 8 to April 11, 2010. The cards will be sold at P300 thereafter.
The card offers a maximum of one-percent rebate for every shopping.
