CEBU, Philippines - The public becoming more budget conscious including in the purchase of vehicles opened the doors for Chery Automobile to introduce their products here due to its edge of affordability and good quality.
Chery Cars Cebu Dealership Managing Director Raymund Basubas shared that they had a 23 percent increase in sales for Cebu despite having been for only a short period yet.
Basubas said that they are optimistic that this number would continue to grow within this year where they are targeting a 55 percent increase in Cebu alone.
The company is hopeful in achieving this target since according to Basubas, “Cebu is a really good market.”
He said that Cebuanos, being very smart, check if the price is at par with the quality of the product they are buying.
Basubas said that the quality of Chery cars have been proven by the happy owners of their vehicles.
This has also helped Chery Cars become the top car dealer last year.
According to Basubas, it would be hard to tell whether the company’s performance in Cebu was affected by the global economic crisis since they are newcomers in the country over other companies that have already been present for a long time.
Chery Automobile is a Chinese car manufacturer that is present in over 80 countries worldwide.
He said that they have not even reached their full potential yet, but the excellent sales performance is already a good indication of how well the company is doing in Cebu.
Basubas added that the good feedback in Cebu would also serve as an encouragement for them or for any new business for that matter.
The company plans to introduce two new models in the middle of this year said Basubas adding to the six they already have.
“We would be introducing the Sedan models, which is the higher-end models,” said Basubas, but he said that like their other cars, the new models would still be very affordable.
So far, Basubas said that 70 percent of their sales in Cebu is with their Chery QQ models, which price starts at P399,000.
He said that they do not have cars that cost more than P1M since their most expensive as of now is the Tiggo Automatic, which is at P959,000.
Basubas said that adding to their present target market, they already have companies getting cars from them to be given to employees or used as company cars.
Further, Basubas said that they are positive that they would continue on increasing their growth in Cebu since they can see that they have the trust of the public and that more people see that their products are very good investments. – Anjieliz A. de la Torre/NLQ
