CEBU, Philippines - Makro Philippines, the leading hypermart store in the country that initially caters to Medium and Small enterprises and startup businesses, now opens its doors to all customers who would like to avail of fresh, affordable and quality products.
This, as revealed by Makro Cebu Branch Manager Emily Silverio during the opening of the “Makro Extravaganza 2009,” a 3-day event made with different activities which is the stores’ way of giving back to the customers and suppliers for the continuous support throughout the years.
Silverio shared that all the 12 branches of Makro in the country are now catering to all consumers, not only their initial target composed of SMEs like sari-sari storeowners who avail of their products through wholesale purchase.
“Everybody is the target,” added Silverio who said that they now sell in small consumptions and have even made their membership process easier where customers would only fill up the required information sheet and provide an identification card, and they would be a member immediately for free.
She said that this is the company’s way of coping with the global crisis where they still maintain their low prices and offer quality products.
The shift in target market and changes in the membership process has increased the number of members to 60,000, Silverio said and they are optimistic that it will continue to grow in the coming months.
Aside from this, Silverio said that they also provide all the needs of Hotels, Restaurants, and Caterers where they offer packages, which help these businesses in saving time from going to the market where not all the items and products they need are found.
Silverio said that there HORECA market have been increasing, this is due to their huge stock of HORECA needs like chafing dishes, plates, glasses, utensils, chef’s uniforms, and also their array of fresh and quality products with their huge frozen assortment and the selection of fruits and vegetables. “It is only in Makro that you can find all of these,” said Silverio.
Silverio said that this is their way of adapting to the changes considering the growing industry of the IT and BPO sector where restaurants nearby these companies are a big hit. She also said that they want to have more families to come in and assure them of the companies’ promise of always being “Happy to serve.”
Makro, which is now a member of the SM group, also offers electronics, appliances and office and school supplies aside from the groceries.
The Makro Extravaganza 2009 event is packed with different activities for the customers like negosyo sessions and their Makro business seminar which is a 2-hour business seminar given for free to entrepreneurs to help them improve business skills.
